Most people living in the Ramona community have heard of RHS's Royal Alliance Marching Band.  The band forms the symphonic band. However, most people don't know what happens with the color guard and the drumline.

The color guard and drumline branch off into their own programs seperate from the band, highlighting their skills.

Color guard members start the Winter Color Guard season right after the marching band season is over. In Winter Guard, the color guard performs a show by themselves to a modern day song, or an instrumental song. This year, the color guard is doing a show to the song "Counting Stars" by Onerepublic. The color guard spins the same props as in marching season, and more dance choreography is added. The show is performed on a nylon or a tarp floor.  Instead of performing on the football field with the band, the guard performs in a gymnasium, competing against other color guards in their division.

The color guard will be attending the following competitions:
  • Mission Hills High School 2/8
  • Mira Mesa High School 2/22
  • Carlsbad High School 3/8
  • Del Norte High School 3/22
  • Championships (TBA) 4/12

Drumline members branch off into Winter Drumline after the marching season. Drumline is composed of drums, cymbals, mallets, and auxiliary percussion. The Drumline marches drill on a tarp floor while playing music. The "front ensemble", which is composed of the mallet players and auxiliary percussion, plays music in front of the floor along with the drums. The drumline plays music composed solely for them ( as opposed to a full band).

Drumline will be attending the following competitions:

  • Del Norte High School 3/1
  • Cajon High School 3/22
  • Rancho Buena Vista High School 3/29
  • Semi Finals at Riverside King High School 4/12
  • Championships (if qualified) 4/26
