The Royal Alliance Marching Band and Color Guard show theme for the 2013 fall season has been announced. This year's theme is "Stars", as in "Stars and Stipes". The show features a unique take on patriotic music. The opener tune is entitled Star Spangled Overture, the Ballad (slow tune) is entitled Amber waves, and the closing number is entitled "Stars and Stripes". Visually, the band will be making many interesting forms in the drill this year. The beginning features the band forming a star, with a soloist color guard member standing in the middle of the form. The band later makes a flag, in which four color guard members run streamers across , forming the bars part of the flag. The ballad Amber waves was written with images of the Midwestern Plains in mind. The Color Guard will have long swing flags with similar colors. The closing number pays tribute to our soldiers and veterans of our country. The end of the ballad tune has a beautiful segway into this upbeat, closing number.
