Band On The Run 5/10K Benefit

What do you get when you combine a Marching & Jazz Band with a 5K/10K nationally sanctioned Walk/Run?  If you would like to know the answer to that question, then check out BAND ON THE RUN 5K/10K Family Fun Day on Saturday February 22 at the Ramona High School Track & Football Field.  Event organizers Heather Marley & Tracey Stephens of the Alliance for Music Education state “the event has been sanctioned by the USA Track & Field Association so that times may be recorded for national standings for those competing in multiple 5/10K events during the year.  We also wanted to make it a family event, and have included a 1 mile Kids Fun Run and a supervised kid’s area with games and prizes.”

Check-in begins at 7 am, and the 5K & 10K runs will start at 8 am.  The 1 mile Kids Fun Run will go off at 8:15 am, followed by games for kids on the football field.  Individual routes for the 5 & 10 K have been identified through the town, and while the adults are competing in their event, kids can have fun in the supervised Kid Zone at the RHS Football Field.  Entrance fees for the races range from $10 for the Kids Fun Run, to $25 for the 5K and $35 for the 10K races.  Students may also compete in the 5K/10K at a discounted rate of $15.  Proceeds will benefit the Ramona High School Band Programs.  All entrants will receive a free T-shirt with their registration.  For more information and online registration, visit www.royalallianceband.org/Walk_Run.html call 760-440-ROYAL.
