Suicide Prevention Seminar Comes to Ramona Sept. 8

In San Diego county, one person dies by suicide every day.

A free one-hour suicide prevention seminar will be held at Ramona Branch Library on Sept. 8. The seminar, called QPR: Question, Persuade and Refer, is presented by the County of San Diego and will be held at several libraries.

In this county, one person dies by suicide every day. On average in the United States, one person dies by suicide every 16 minutes, according to a news release.

The seminar is designed to empower residents with the tools and knowledge needed to help save a life. Dates and locations include:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m., Vista Branch, 700 Eucalyptus Ave
  • Thursday, Sept. 8 at 10:30 a.m., Ramona Branch, 1275 Main St
  • Thursday, Sept. 8 at 1:30 p.m., San Marcos Branch, 2 Civic Center Dr
  • Thursday, Sept. 8 at 1 p.m., El Cajon Branch, 201 E Douglas Ave

This workshop will teach people how to recognize the signs of a suicide crisis, how to offer hope and know how to get help and save a life.

The workshop is provided in partnership with the San Diego County Suicide Prevention Council, the County of San Diego's Health and Human Services Agency, Community Health Improvement Partners, and OptumHealth.
