Update: Red Flag Warning Lifted for the County; Slight Chance of Rain Thursday Afternoon

The National Weather Service on Wednesday lifted its Red Flag Warning for all of San Diego county by 8 p.m.

A Red Flag Warning means "critical fire conditions" were expected to cause "explosive fire growth potential," according to the service.

Winds up to 45 mph were observed Wednesday in parts of the county. Isolated gusts up to 60 mph were expected.

The Ramona to Julian area was expected to get some of the highest winds in the county, along with areas such as Warner Springs, Valley Center, Palomar Mountain, Campo and Alpine, a spokesman told Ramona Patch on Tuesday afternoon.

Power was restored to most of those customers by about 3 p.m.

The red flag warning extended into parts of Los Angeles, Ventura, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, the Inland Empire and Santa Ana Mountains. The weather pattern came from high pressure in Nevada and Utah, the Weather Service reported.

A cold Pacific storm is expected to bring a slight chance of light rain on late Thursday and Friday in San Diego county, with gusty onshore winds.
