State Agency Suspends Burning Permits

The Department of Forestry and Fire Protection issues a proclamation on open-fire use.

Burning permits and other permissions to use open flame were suspended Saturday on state-owned lands and unincorporated areas within San Diego and Imperial counties, fire officials reported.

The proclamation was issued because the critical fire weather and acute dryness increase the threat of destruction by fire to life, property or natural resources, officials said.

The use of campfires was also restricted to within established campfire facilities located in public campgrounds, Cal Fire officials said. Authorities can issue restricted temporary permits under certain conditions.
