Santa Ysabel Grass Fire

A multi-agency effort worked to contain a grass fire off Highway 79 on Tuesday.

Traffic was stopped at times on Highway 79 out of Santa Ysabel Tuesday as agencies continued to work a grass fire north of Mesa Grande Road.

Sheriff's Heli Attack, with a CalFire crew, dropped water on the fire late Tuesday morning, said CalFire spokesman Mike Mohler.

The fire was 40 percent contained by about noon and the cause is under investigation. Ground crews continued to work on hot spots into the afternoon.
