The district's lack of accidents has helped them keep costs low with their insurance program.

Ramona Water Board President Darrell Beck thinks the Ramona Municipal Water District is doing a "great job," after he learned it received a "Low Loss Ratio" award from Joint Powers Insurance Authority.

Human Resources Manager for the district Mike Callahan said he was pleased to present the award to the board, saying that the RMWD staff is "very careful with the district."

The Low Loss Ratio award is special recognition for RMWD's risk management and risk control programs. The good claim ratios help maintain affordable coverage from Joint Powers Insurance Authority (JPIA), which District General Manager David Barnum said is a low-cost, high-value provider.

"It's beneficial to the rate payers," Callahan said.
