Public Water District Hearing Draws No Comments

Resolution approves fire-mitigation fees. Ramona Municipal Water District completes its business in 10 minutes.

In a matter of seconds, the Ramona Municipal Water District board of directors opened and closed a public hearing on fire-mitigation fees at its Aug. 9 meeting. And a few minutes later, the board possibly set a new record: The meeting was over in 10 minutes.

There were no comments from the public on the fire-mitigation fees. The board unanimously adopted a resolution approving the fees for facilities and equipment through 2016. The estimated annual revenue from the fees is $35,000.

It is a requirement by the county’s Office of Disaster Preparedness for the water district to file an annual report and adopt the resolution providing for multiyear facilities and equipment.

In other business, the directors unanimously approved an agreement with San Diego County Water Authority to provide money for local resources for recycled water for .

It stemmed from an agreement made two years ago with Metropolitan Water District that has since been taken over by SDCWA. It now calls for RMWD to receive approximately $52,000 annually for a total of $1.3 million over a 25-year period. The money is earmarked for the San Vicente Waste Water Reclamation Plant for watering the golf course.
