Aircraft Flips Sunday at Ramona Airport; Pilot Sustains Minor Injuries

A light aircraft landing at Ramona Airport Sunday flipped, causing minor injuries to the pilot. Federal agencies are reviewing the accident for any mechanical issues.

A light aircraft piloted by a man from Florida ran off the runway into the mud and flipped at Ramona Airport on Sunday, causing the pilot "very minor injuries," according to Airport Manager Bo Donovan.

The incident is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation and Safety Board for any possible mechanical failures.

Donovan said the Experimental Midget Mustang landed on the runway at about 8:30 a.m. and then jerked to the south side and flipped. It was piloted by a 67-year-old Florida man who had purchased the plane in Ramona. The plane was towed to his hangar at the airport.
