Ramona Air Attack Base Responds to Lightning Strike in East County

CalFire crews are stationed at Boulevard.

The two CalFire air tankers at Ramona Air Attack Base responded to the location of a lightning strike in East County Tuesday night, Mike Mohler, a CalFire spokesman reported.

A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect in southeastern San Diego county.

Mohler said there was one fire out in the Boulevard area. CalFire ground crews were still stationed there as of about 6:45 pm.

The Ramona air crews were canceled as of about 6:30 pm. Heavy rain fell in East County and ground crews were able to take care of any trouble spots, a spokesperson said.
