Overturned Grain Truck Closes Highway 78 for Three Hours

The highway was closed from about 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday while the grain was cleared away. No reports of serious injuries.

A tractor trailer full of grain overturned on Highway 78 east of Ramona Monday afternoon, causing closure of the highway.

Westbound traffic from the Santa Ysabel area was diverted to take Old Julian Highway to Third Street in Ramona. The closure was in effect from approximately 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. and affected both lanes.

The driver was not reported to be seriously injured and was able to climb out of the truck and walk away, according to Ramona Fire Department. It was reported that he was trying to avoid something in the road and lost control of the vehicle, which was loaded with thousands of pounds of chicken feed.
