Let's face it: kids need to get out and play. But here in Ramona, playgrounds aren't abundant. And with extreme heat in the summer and the impending rainy season, outdoor playgrounds are moot anyway.
Lucky for our small town, Shawna Roberts just opened Tot Town, an indoor playground for the young kiddos in town.
"We had nothing like it for our little ones," Roberts told Patch. "It's nice to have something up here that you can go, if it's hot or rainy, or if you just need to get out of the house or do something different."
Roberts said Tot Town Indoor Playground is a great chance for kids 5 and under to come play with a variety of toys and socialize with other. The 2,200 square-foot space is stocked with fun stuff like two climb and slides, a playhouse, ride-on toys and Cozy Coupes, a tunnel structure, see-saws, a ball bounce house, a chalkboard wall and even a baby play area with a "soft" play area.
"At the park they can get away," Roberts said, noting the safety of Tot Town. "Here we have just one door and it's locked."
Roberts, who is expecting and a mother of a 2 and a half year old, said her new biz is a great place for kids "to have a good time and get exercise." She even opens the space to private parties on Saturdays.
"You bring the kids, decorations, food, desserts, anything you want for the party, basically," Roberts said. "The fee is just for you to be there and use the equipment and have a good time for two hours."
Group parties are just $150 for a two-hour block and are held on Saturdays only. Monday through Friday the play area is open to the public. Tots cost just $8 per visit (or $60 for 10 visits) and parents get in free. An adult is required to stay with the child during their visit.
Tot Town is located inside the Day Promenade Building at 850 Main Street, Suite 106. The indoor playground is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays are reserved for private parties.
