Mark Kinney Sentencing Today in El Cajon Courthouse

Kinney was convicted in February of eight charges related to child molestation and child pornography. His attorney has filed a motion for a new trial.

A judge will hear both a motion for a new trial and the sentencing arguments for former Ramona music teacher Mark Lewis Kinney this morning at the El Cajon courthouse.

Kinney, 48, a former Wynola resident, was convicted of molestation and child pornography charges Feb. 10 and has been held at Vista Detention Facility.

The charges related to three girls who testified during the trial.

Defense attorney David Cohn has not reported the grounds on which he will argue for a new trial.

A different prosecutor will represent the District Attorney's office in the case. Chantal DeMauregne replaces Timothy Campen, who has submitted his resignation.

Kinney taught private music lessons throughout San Diego County and performed as a musician, sometimes in groups including children. He taught many lessons in private homes, as well as in a Ramona music store.
