Update: Lightning Ignites Several Fires in the Backcountry Friday

A fire near Sunshine Summit was at 40 acres Saturday and 50 percent contained.

Chihuahua Valley Fire near Sunshine Summit was at 40 acres and 50 percent contained Saturday morning, Cal Fire reported. Although the Sheriff's Department issued advisory warnings Friday night as a precautionary measure, there were no reports of evacuations. The fire had grown to 100 acres at approximately 6 p.m. Friday.

The Border Fire, near the community of Boulevard, had reached 15 acres off Tierra Real Lane and was no longer spreading Friday night. Crews remained on the scene to do mop up. No structures were damaged. The fire was reported at 4:24 p.m.

The Cain Fire was contained at 1 acre. This fire was north of the Manzanita Indian Reservation. No structures were threatened and the fire was reported at 2:33 p.m.

The Lucky Fire was contained at 1/4 acre. This fire was off Sunrise Highway in Mt. Laguna. No structures were threatened and the fire was reported at 3:02 p.m.
