Hiker Falls to His Death at Cedar Creek Falls; Another Injured

Names of the two hikers have not yet been released.

The U.S. Forest Service has closed Cedar Creek Falls hiking area Wednesday after a deadly accident, the Sheriff's Department reports.

One young male died and another was injured in an accident at about 11:45 a.m.

No names have been released pending notification of the family.

A Sheriff's Department helicopter assisted in the response, landing on San Vicente Golf Course. The fatally injured hiker was pronounced dead at Ramona Fire Department Station 81 on San Vicente Road, according to CalFire spokesman Mike Mohler.

Update at 7:06 p.m: The Medical Examiner reports that the young man who died was from El Cajon. The Sheriff's Department reports that the injured teen was taken to Palomar Medical Center.
