Wind Gusts up to 65-80 mph Possible in Backcountry Friday and Saturday

Winds will increase Friday, causing possible gusts to 80 mph Friday night in parts of the Country Estates and Barona Mesa areas, according to the National Weather Service.

The wind is due to pick up in San Diego County today, bringing gusts of up to 25 mph in the Ramona area, according to the National Weather Service, and increasing into the weekend.

Dry gusty wind up to 65 mph is possible Friday night through Saturday in the downtown Ramona area.

In the Country Estates and Barona Mesa areas, winds could gust up to 80 mph on Friday night and 75 mph on Saturday.

Winds are expected to die down by Saturday night.

A High Wind Warning is in effect for the mountains until 10 p.m. tonight, with a High Wind Watch for those areas for Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon.

Watch for broken tree limbs and downed power lines, with likely hazardous conditions through mountain passes, valleys, along the Interstate 8 corridor and in the foothills.
