High Wind Warning in Effect for Mountains, Deserts Saturday

Gusts of up to 70 mph possible.

The National Weather Service on Friday updated its forecast to show a high wind warning in effect for San Diego County mountains and deserts from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. The wind advisory is no longer in effect; higher winds are expected.

A high wind warning means sustained winds of at least 40 mph are expected. Gusts of up to 70 mph are expected Saturday, with the highest winds in the late afternoon into evening.

Blowing dust may reduce visibility in the deserts. Driving high-profile vehicles may be difficult, especially along Interstate 8 between Pine Valley and Imperial County. Downed power lines or trees and property damage may occur.
