High Wind Warning Again for the Mountains

Wet and windy winter weather is expected to return to San Diego County today as another fast-moving Pacific low pressure system moves inland.

The system will bring strong gusty west winds to the mountains and deserts and light to moderate rain to coastal, valley and mountain areas, according to the National Weather Service.

The rain will move southward across the region this morning and end tonight, the agency advised.

A little less than a quarter-inch is expected along the coast, while up to an inch is possible in the mountains. A quarter-inch or less will fall in the deserts, according to the Weather Service.

A high wind warning is in effect today for the mountains, where there will be winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 65 mph near ridge tops, according to the Weather Service.

"Driving of high-profile vehicles will be difficult," the Weather Service advised. "Affected roads include Interstate 8 between Pine Valley and the Imperial County line. Watch for broken tree limbs and downed power lines."
