No-Burn Restriction Lifted for State Areas

An increase in humidity, expected weather change and the release of resources from an East County wildfire have reduced the fire potential for San Diego and Imperial counties.

With the release of firefighters and equipment from a 995-acre East County fire, Cal Fire has ended its no-burn proclamation.

The wildfire named Old Fire, off Old Highway 80 east of Campo, was 100 percent contained Thursday. More than 300 fire personnel were engaged in suppressing  the blaze, which began June 17. The cause is under investigation.

Fires to be done under permit and other uses of open fire done under code restrictions are now able to go ahead in state responsibility areas, according to Cal Fire.
