Eagle Fire Grows to 4,000 Acres; 30 Percent Containment

A brush fire that began on Los Coyotes Indian Reservation Thursday night entered Anza-Borrego Desert State Park on Friday afternoon.

CalFire reported Saturday morning that the in northeastern San Diego county is at 4,000 acres and firefighters have it 30 percent contained.

The fire began on Los Coyotes Indian Reservation in the Warner Springs area Thursday night and burned through remote hills into Anza-Borrego Desert State Park on Friday.

Firefighters from Riverside and San Bernardino counties have joined San Diego county crews to try to bring the blaze under control.

There have been no reported injuries. The cost to suppress the fire is at $2 million to date, CalFire reported Saturday morning.

There are no structures threatened. The cause is still under investigation.

CalFire reports that the following teams and equipment are working the fire: 7 Fire Engines, 27 Fire Crews, 12, Water Tenders, 4 Bulldozers, 122 Overhead, 9 Helicopters, 7 Airtankers (814 Firefighters).
