County Offers Free Sandbags to Ramona Residents

Locals can pick up sandbags at 3410 Dye Rd.

Ramona residents can pick up free sandbags to protect their homes.

The sandbags—which can be picked up at 3410 Dye Rd.—are being offered by the County's Department of Public Works. Because the region is dry most of the year, heavy rains can create severe soil erosion, damage homes and properties, flood roads, and clog storm drains and culverts, according to the county.

“We don’t want to see anyone’s home or property damaged by the flooding and erosion that rains can create,” said Board of Supervisors Chairman Ron Roberts. “That’s why we offer this free program year after year and encourage everyone to take advantage of it.”
