Cold Pacific Storms May Bring Snow to Local Mountains This Week

It's time to dust off the rain jackets and even snow gear in the mountains—and put them back into use this week— as this season's first two Pacific storms move in. Drizzle and isolated showers are possible Monday in the Ramona area, with more precipitation likely Tuesday and rain due on Wednesday.

Snow is possible down to 6,500 feet in local mountains on Wednesday night, with flurries possible at lower levels, according to the National Weather Service.

Monday may bring a few thunderstorms in the inland mountains. Temperatures everywhere will be a few degrees cooler.

This season's first Pacific storm is due to move in Tuesday. The weather service expects a bit of a lull Tuesday night, then a second Pacific storm is due to arrive.

Wednesday is likely to bring rain. San Diego county mountains may even see snow down to 6,500 feet Wednesday night and into Thursday. Four to eight inches of snow may fall in the highest elevations, with flurries possible below 6,500 feet during lingering showers, according to the weather service. Gusty winds in the mountains and deserts are expected with this second storm.

Temperatures are expected to remain 15 to 30 degrees below normal on Wednesday and Thursday.

Thursday will bring a chance of showers before the weather is expected to clear up for the weekend.
