Cedar Creek Falls Rescue Sunday

A hiker had to be airlifted out after falling and breaking her leg.

A helicopter was called in to rescue a 24-year-old hiker from Cedar Creek Falls Sunday afternoon, after she broke her leg falling from a rope swing.

She is reported to be recuperating Monday.

Cedar Creek Falls is a popular swimming hole east of Ramona. It's bordered by steep canyon walls on three sides. The woman had to be strapped into a basket that was lifted into the air, the deputy said.

Cal Fire managed to reach her with the helicopter at about 3:45 p.m. Sunday, according to San Diego County Sheriff's Deputy Scott Bligh.
