Border Patrol Agent Airlifted to Hospital After Crash in Ramona

A mother and three children escape the two-car collision unharmed.

A Border Patrol agent was airlifted to Pomerado Hospital Tuesday after his vehicle crashed into a truck containing a mother and her three children in Ramona.

The mother and children escaped unhurt, according to California Highway Patrol spokesman Brian Pennings.

The crash happened at about 2:20 p.m. on Highway 78, east of Magnolia Avenue, Pennings said. The male agent and a colleague were westbound in a Chevrolet Tahoe that crossed into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons, he said. The SUV sideswiped a Ford F-250 carrying a 28-year-old mother and her children, ages 7, 6 and 3, Pennings said.
