Vehicle Catches Fire Near Mt. Woodson; Cal Fire Says No Foul Play

The call came in around 4 p.m. on Sunday, Cal Fire said.

A pickup truck caught fire late Sunday afternoon near Mt. Woodson in Ramona, but Cal Fire says it doesn't suspect any foul play.

According to Capt. Cesar Nerey, a call came in around 4 p.m. for a vegetation fire on Salida del Sol. When units arrived, it turned out to be a vehicle on fire, which was quickly doused, Nerey said.

The fire captain said no one was in the vehicle at the time and no one was injured, but the truck was totaled in damages from the fire.

As for the fire itself, Nerey Cal Fire does not believe it was sparked intentionally.

"It seems to be a mechanical failure," he said.
