Update: One Santa Ysabel Death Ruled as Homicide

Two bodies were discovered in a Santa Ysabel home Monday and an investigation is under way.

The San Diego Medical Examiner has ruled the death of a woman in Santa Ysabel as a homicide resulting from a single gunshot wound, the San Diego Sheriff's Department announced Wednesday.

A man, who was also discovered dead in the same home as the woman on Oct. 29, has been determined to have died from natural causes, authorities said.

The sheriff's department reported that a firearm was recovered at the scene and identification of the decedents is pending notification of the next of kin.

This investigation is still ongoing, however, based upon the evidence found at the scene and the facts surrounding this case known to this point, the Sheriff's Department does not believe there are any suspects outstanding.

The discovery of the two bodies Monday at a home in the 25200 block of Mesa Grande Road in Santa Ysabel was made after deputies made a welfare check at the residence around 9 p.m.
