Update: Lanes Open in Santa Ysabel After Truck/Trailer Accident

A Ford F250 with a 30-foot trailer turned on its side just before noon in front of Dudley's Bakery.

A Ford 250 truck hauling a 30-foot 5th-wheel trailer overturned on Highway 79, just north of Highway 78 in Santa Ysabel on Friday, causing blockage of both lanes of 79.

The accident happened just before noon.

Motorists used the parking lot at Dudley's Bakery to get through the intersection. The truck was brought into an upright position by 1:30 p.m.

A man and woman from Washington state were in the vehicle.

The Highway Patrol reported that the accident was caused by the 68-year-old woman driving at an "unsafe speed."

"She failed to negotiate the corner from Highway 78 onto 79 and landed both the truck and trailer on their sides on Highway 79," CHP spokesman Brian Pennings reported.

The driver was transported for medical treatment after complaining of pain.
