Sheriff's Dept. Investigating Infant Death in Country Estates

All infant deaths are investigated by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The San Diego Sheriff's Department is investigating an infant death, they told Patch Thursday afternoon.

Authorities said that a baby died this afternoon after a call was made at 12:40 p.m. to the 25000 block of Pappas Road in the Country Estates. Two units responded.

The Sheriff's Department Homicide Detail would not release any details, but told Patch that every infant death is investigated by the San Diego Sheriff's Department.

"We investigate every infant death," a department official said. "Whether it's SIDS, drowning or murder."

The official further explained that information about the cause of death of the child would only be released if the death was not found to be accidental.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner did not have immediate details.
