One man was killed and two others hospitalized Sunday afternoon after the car they were riding in rolled over on Ashley Road near Seventh Street, according to the Highway Patrol. Excessive speed and alcohol may have contributed to the crash, said Officer Brian Pennings.
The man killed was riding in the back seat and was ejected from a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda that had travelled 200 feet from a driveway before rolling over around 3:20 p.m., Pennings said. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. The Medical Examiner’s office has not released the man’s name.
The driver was a 49-year-old Ramona man, and has been hospitalized with a possible spinal injury, Pennings said. The front-seat passenger was also hospitalized. Their names and conditions have not been released.
