Rollover Crash Injures Two, Shuts Down Roadway on Easter

Medics took two people to hospitals, but witnesses said at least two others who were involved in the crash previously left the scene in other vehicles, fire officials said.

A single-vehicle rollover crash near the Barona Ranch Indian Reservation Sunday sent at least two people to a hospital and temporarily shut down the roadway in both directions.

Fire crews from Lakeside and Barona were dispatched about 6:15 a.m. to Wildcat Canyon Road near Muth Valley Road on a report that a car had crashed and some of its about five occupants were trapped in the upside-down car, fire officials said.

The five people had managed to scramble out of the wrecked Nissan Altima before rescuers arrived, according to the Lakeside Fire Protection District. And the car did not catch fire, but left oil and fuel covering the roadway.

Authorities closed both Wildcat Canyon Road's lanes so the injured in the crash could be assessed and loaded into waiting ambulances, fire officials said.
