Ramona Fire Department to House County Reserve Fire Engine

The extra engine will allow for added resources at no extra cost to the district.

Ramona Fire Department/Cal Fire will be housing a reserve engine from the San Diego County Fire Authority, Battalion Chief Saul Villagomez said.

The fire marshal told the Ramona Municipal Water District board at their July 9 meeting that the Type 2 Engine, which is used for both structure and brush fires, is a "great opportunity" for the community.

"It's reliable," Villagomez said of the extra engine. "It allows us to continue the mission... of protecting Ramona at no extra cost."

According to Villagomez, the engine will be maintained and serviced by the county. It will be stored at Station 80, as that location is a more central location and has more firefighters than other Ramona Fire Department stations.

Ramona Fire Department currently houses another reserve engine at Station 82.
