Preliminary Hearing Set for Alleged Ramona Church Robbers

The two allegedly stole cash, checks and sacramental wine from St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Ramona April 14.

A preliminary hearing has been rescheduled to May 21 for Christopher Szumski and Brandon Tye, who are accused of stealing cash, checks and sacramental wine from a Ramona church. 

The two were arrested in a traffic stop on Interstate 8 near Main Street in El Cajon a day after the incident, according to San Diego County sheriff's Lt. Hank Turner.

Stolen property was found when officers searched the vehicle the two were in when they were stopped, according to Turner.

Szumski and Tye are charged with two counts each of burglary at the church and one of residential burglary in connection with the San Marcos burglary.
