Owner Chases Stolen Vehicle; Teen Arrested

An 18-year-old stole a van Tuesday morning, resulting in a car chase and his arrest.

An 18-year-old resident of Northstar Independence Inc. stole a van Tuesday morning, resulting in a chase by the vehicle owner and an arrest, Sheriff's Lt. James Bovet told Patch.

"One of the residents [at the facility] stole a van and the owner saw him steal the van and chased him," Bovet said. "And they actually had a collision, which stopped [the teen]."

The Sheriff's Lieutenant said the chase took place around 8:30 a.m. Feb. 12, with the collision occuring at 9th and Main Streets.

"When the owner got him stopped, he couldn't get into the vehicle because this kid locked the door," Bovet said. "So he broke his own window out of his vehicle."

According to Bovet, deputies arrived after the collision and arrested the suspect, Timothy Rugolo, for stealing the vehicle.
