Motorcycle Crash on 78 Injures Two

The driver of the motorcycle loses control after vehicle in front slows down.

A motorcyclist traveling on state Route 78 approaching Old Milky Way Road lost control Sunday morning after he hit the brakes hard to avoid hitting a vehicle slowing in front of him, dumping the motorcycle to the ground, according to San Diego police.

The driver of the motorcycle was hospitalized with a lacerated liver, fractured ribs and other internal injuries, according to police Sgt. Robin J. Rose. A female passenger sustained minor injuries, and they were both taken to a hospital, police said.

The motorcycle was in a group of several vehicles westbound near San Pasqual Battlefield around 10:45 a.m. when the lead vehicle, directly in front of the motorcycle, slowed to turn onto Old Milky Way Road, according to police. The driver of the motorcycle slammed on the brakes and lost control, laying the bike down.
