Mark Elvin Promoted to Assistant Sheriff of Detention Services Bureau

Elvin was in charge of Poway, Ramona, 4S Ranch and Encinitas areas.

Sheriff Bill Gore has promoted Law Enforcement Commander Mark Elvin to assistant sheriff of detention services, the department announced Friday.

Elvin is a 23-year veteran of the Sheriff's Department. He formerly was in charge of the Poway, Ramona, 4S Ranch and Encinitas areas.

He also managed the Crime Lab, License and Registration, Communications and Central Investigations divisions.

He succeeds Assistant Sheriff Al Guerin, who retired Thursday.

“We have in our commands across our bureaus truly outstanding leaders and capable managers,” Gore said.
