Motorcyclist Killed on Highway 78

An older man was pronounced dead at the Ash Street intersection.

A motorcyclist pulled out of Ash Street into oncoming traffic on Highway 78 on Tuesday and was hit by an oncoming car, authorities reported.

Traffic was diverted off Highway 78 while the accident scene was processed. The accident happened at about 4:15 p.m., a spokesman for Ramona Fire Station 80 told Patch. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

California Highway Patrol reported that witnesses said the man slowed down as he came to the intersection and looked to the right, but he didn't look toward traffic leaving Ramona before increasing his speed and moving across that lane.
