Large Barona House Fire at 2 a.m. Wednesday

An investigation is under way at the home, which was under construction.

A 4,000-foot home under construction on the Barona Indian Reservation caught fire early Wednesday, a fire captain said.

The fire in the 1100 block of Ak Uunyaa Way was reported at about 2:10 a.m., according to Lakeside fire Capt. Mark Grow.

"Firefighters had difficulty battling the blaze because the nearest hydrant was about a quarter of a mile away,'' Grow said.

Extensive hose was laid to bring the water from the hydrant to the
structure, he said.

No injuries were immediately reported.

The San Diego County sheriff's bomb-arson team has been investigating the
cause of the blaze.
