Nearly $100K of Hay, Equipment Burned Sunday in 6-Hour Fire

About $70,000 worth of hay bales were burned Sunday in a six hour fire, Ramona Fire Department/Cal Fire said.

A $25,000 hay lift was also destroyed in the fire off the 2200 block of Lagewaart Road, Ramona Fire Department 82 said.

According to authorities, the fire was reported by a homeowner around 1:15 p.m. June 2. Firefighters remained on scene for eight hours, fighting flames 50 feet high, due to highly-stacked bales of hay.

The fire department said the cause of the blaze is unknown and still under investigation.

No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened.
