Detectives, Deputies Make Early Morning Arrest in Connection to Shane Tatro's Death

Miles Lockhart, 52, was arrested early morning Tuesday in connection to the September death of Shane Tatro, which involved the purchase of marijuana.

Sheriff's Homicide Detectives, the Special Enforcement Detail and Ramona deputies said they served a search warrant and made an arrest early Tuesday morning in connection to a September death on Walnut Street.

Authorities said that they served a search warrant to Miles Lockhart, 52, at 6 a.m. due to circumstances surrounding the Sept. 16, 2012 death of Shane Tatro outside of Lockhart's residence at the 1300 block of Walnut Street.

Homicide detectives have been investigating the fatal shooting of Tatro, which reportedly occurred after the 38-year-old went to Lockhart's home on Walnut Street and got into an argument with him.

A homicide lieutenant stated back in September that the homeowner told investigators Tatro was a stranger to him.

The Sheriff's Department said the death of Tatro was the result of a single shotgun wound sustained during an alleged altercation between Lockhart and Tatro over the purchase of marijuana.

In January, Mother Earth co-op presented to the Ramona Community Planning Group a building site on Walnut Street to use as its new location to distribute medicinal marijuana.

Ramona’s sheriff’s Lt. James Bovet said at the planning group meeting that the proposed Walnut Street location for Mother Earth was across the street from the only homicide Ramona saw in 2012, noting the incident involved marijuana.

Anyone with information about this incident and Tatro's death is asked to call the Homicide Detail at 858-974- 2321/after hours at 858-565-5200 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-TIPS(8477).
