Cal Fire to Participate in Aerial Fire Fighting Exercises at Camp Pendleton

Military and civilian firefighters will join forces Thursday for an aerial firefighting exercise at Camp Pendleton, base officials announced today.

The exercise is scheduled from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday and will involve aviation and ground units from Pendleton, the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Navy Region Southwest, Cal Fire and the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, according to Pendleton's media relations office.

"The training will certify the pilots in these operations and build relations between the agencies involved," base officials said in a statement.
