Body Found Near Wrecked Vehicle in Ranchita Area
Officials say the crash appeared to have occurred possibly on Tuesday night.
A passer-by spotted a body today near a wrecked vehicle in a gorge alongside a rural East County road crossing southwest of Borrego Springs.
The discovery at Montezuma Valley and San Felipe roads in the Ranchita area was reported shortly after 1:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Emergency personnel had to rappel about 100 feet down a steep slope to get to the site of the apparent solo traffic accident, the CHP reported.

The deceased person's identity was not immediately confirmed.
