Do you have a fire hazard in your attic?

Potential fire hazard lurking in your attic. If your house was built between 1983 and 1991, have your furnace serviced and checked for safety.

Horizontal Furnaces

Many of these furnaces are dangerous and should be replaced

While performing a home inspection in Ramona this weekend, I ran across a potentially dangerous situation. This house, built in the 1980's, had a horizontal furnace installed in the attic. Certain models of horizontal furnaces were recalled due to design flaws which caused fires.

If you have a house built between 1983 and 1991 (give or take a few years) and a gas furnace is in the attic, you should have a licensed heating contractor perform a safety inspection. Please note that since Ramona residents do not buy gas from SDG&E, they will not check your furnace.

You can learn more about the recalled furnaces by reading this article on H-Series furnaces
