Poll: Should Parents Need Doctor’s Note to Opt Out of School Shots?

Assembly Bill 2109 would make it harder to use personal-belief exemption to avoid vaccinations.

Under state law, incoming and have to be vaccinated for certain childhood diseases—unless they opt out with a personal belief exemption. But under Assembly Bill 2109, pending in the state Senate after being OK’d by the Assembly, parents who oppose shots for their kids would have to see a doctor first, and get a signed form saying they were briefed on the risks. Anti-vaccination forces call this a step toward “forced” vaccinations. Where do you stand?

Libi - you have quite some nerve don't you? How dare you say that opting out of shots only happens with bad parents that are unconcerned about their kids! It is much easier to take a child in to get injected than it is to file for an exemption. So I really think you have NO idea where parents are coming from, when they decide to opt out

i said that bad parents will take the easy way...and good parents that are concerned about their kids should look at the entire picture.... i really don't understand what the big deal is.....if the parent takes care of the child there's a family doctor that knows the child's history and will sign the form....not hard...probably just drop it off or fax it in to the office...

Libi - thank you for clarifying. The problem is that most doctors are refusing to sign the exemption forms. Tons of parents cannot find a doctor who will sign and their usual doctor(not western mainstream) is not allowed to sign the exemption. So where does that leave parents who do not want these in their children?

I love to see so many parents getting informed about this delicate issue. For those looking for more research, there is an amazing German study released in September 2011 of about 8000 UNVACCINATED children (from newborns to 19 years) that shows vaccinated children have more than twice the diseases and disorders than unvaccinated children, and perhaps five times more of certain disorders. More info here... http://sanevax.org/new-study-vaccinated-children-have-2-to-5-times-more-diseases-and-disorders-than-unvaccinated-children/ I also suggest the National Vaccine Information Center www.nvic.org and their article with 8 questions to ask before you vaccinate http://www.nvic.org/Ask-Eight-Questions.aspx
