Royce Stephens Bolding, Veteran and Ramona Sheriff's Volunteer, Dies at 78

Royce Stephens Bolding, a resident of Ramona for 32 years, died Aug. 31 after a battle with Alzheimer's disease, according to a Union Tribune obituary. He was 78. 

Bolding served more than 22 years in the Navy, stationed in Vietnam, and at Hawaii's Pearl Harbor. After his time in the service he worked in building maintenance until retiring.

In retirement he volunteered at the Ramona Sheriffs' Department with his wife Kathy, and received awards for his service to the community.

"Those who had the privilege to know him knew he was sincere and the kindest heart you would ever know. He was a dedicated husband and dad, a great friend and mentor," read his obituary.

Services are planned for Monday, October 28, at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery with full military honors. Donation can be made in the memory of Royce Stephens Bolding to Disabled American Veterans.
