Richard Wilson Dies at 55; Former Marine, Embalmer

Wilson was remembered as always putting a "smile on your face and always had a good story to share."

Richard Wilson—who was an embalmer since 1982—has passed away, according to Bonham Bros. & Stewart Mortuary.

Wilson was 55.

Born in Bangkok, Thailand to a military family, Wilson was familiar with the U.S. Marine Corps and served for six years. He was a member of the California Funeral Director’s Association, British Association of Embalmers, was an Associate of Clinical Anatomists and was Director of the Will Body Program, UCSD, and worked as a trade embalmer for many funeral homes since 1982.

He is remembered as "easy to work with and appreciated by the funeral directors" who knew him. Wilson's family call him "an outdoors man" who enjoyed both fishing and falconry.

A funeral mass will take place at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Ramona, on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 9:30 a.m., according to Bonham Bros. & Mortuary.  A rosary will proceed Mass at 9 a.m. Burial will take place at 12 noon, Miramar National Cemetery, San Diego, with military honors.
