Kenneth M. Pierson, Pilot, Gardener and Sheriff's Volunteer, Dies at 81

Kenneth M. Pierson, a pilot in the Ramona area and volunteer with the Ramona Sheriff's Station, died at age 81, according to the Ramona Sentinel.

Pierson was born in Detroit and raised in St. Louis. He joined the Navy at age 16 and flew in the Korean war. He then came to San Diego, worked as an airline pilot and eventually retired from US Air.

He taught flying around Julian and Ramona, coached football and soccer and joined the Senior Volunteer Sheriff's Patrol at the Ramona station. He loved to garden and was president of two local flower societies.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 12, at Bonham Bros & Stewart Mortuary Chapel in Ramona (321 12th St).
