Service for Ramona Resident 'Mac' MacWilliams Set for Tomorrow

Nelson Edward MacWilliams, 54, died when his truck rolled over on Wildcat Canyon Road.

A service celebrating the life of Nelson Edward MacWilliams, a well-known Ramona resident killed in a traffic accident last week, will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28.

A former Naval officer with 22 years in the service, “Mac” MacWilliams served as a field representative for Rep. Duncan Hunter, focusing on issues involving veterans, military and law enforcement.

Before dedicating his time to those causes, MacWilliams worked as the executive director for Ramona Chamber of Commerce.

from the Medical Examiner’s Office stated that MacWilliams was alone last Tuesday while driving a Ford pickup southbound on Wildcat Canyon Road near Muth Valley Road. The pickup drifted to the right, hitting the raised curb of the shoulder and causing the truck to roll over. MacWilliams, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene due to positional asphyxia.

According to his obituary, MacWilliams is survived by his wife, Susan; mother, Bertha MacWilliams; brothers, William MacWilliams, Jr., Charles MacWilliams and Richard MacWilliams; sons, Christopher MacWilliams and Sean MacWilliams; daughters, Nicole Marks and Angela Cox; grandsons, Luke and Dean Marks; granddaughters, Madison MacWilliams and Olivia Cox; and several nieces and nephews.

His death was preceded by his father, William MacWilliams, Sr., and sister, Virginia Mae Lusby.

The service will be held at , 321 12th St. Military honors and a potluck celebration will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the , 2247 Kelly Ave., where MacWilliams was a member. Donations in his honor can be sent there.
