25 to 30 Jobs Could Be Available at Ramona's Goodwill by Summer's End

Job seekers can apply online. The public is encouraged to begin dropping off items at the free-standing donation center which opens June 30th.

Goodwill Industries is awaiting building permits for its planned store at 1676 Main St. in Ramona, which is due to open later this summer.

Meanwhile, the non-profit is asking residents to begin dropping off clothing and household goods beginning June 30, when the free-standing donation center opens.

"We are still several months away from opening the store," spokeswoman Sharon Corrigan told Patch on Thursday.

Goodwill stores usually employ 25 to 30 people, Corrigan said. Job seekers for the Ramona store are encouraged to apply through the organization's website. Goodwill does not accept unsolicited resumes.

Goodwill has close to 1,000 people on the payroll in San Diego county, Corrigan said.

In addition to its stores, Goodwill Industries provides an employment assistance program. It is a non profit (501 c 3) charity, founded at 16th and Imperial in the City of San Diego in 1930.

"We are unique in that we do not conduct traditional fundraising activities for cash: no galas, no telephone calls, no mail asking for money," Corrigan said. "We use donated items to create job training for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment."

Goodwill will provide more details about its store closer to the opening date.
