Ramona Family Receives Unexpected Blessings Before Christmas

A local business owner wants to thank a grateful donor and someone who paid off her layaway items.

My name is Suzy, and my husband and  I are local business owners and parents of two little ones who live here in Ramona.  We have been here for going on 5 years now this spring.  And in the 5 years we have been here, the economy has been horrible for us and our business has suffered and we have lost 50% of the value in our home.  It's been a great struggle to survive, but in the last 3 days the most amazing things have happened.

On Thursday evening this past week, I was at Costco in Poway to get some things we needed, and as we were walking out to our truck, my children and I found an iPhone laying in the middle of the parking stall next to our truck.  So, I picked it up and turned it on, and noticed that the owner had text messaged someone a little while earlier, so I sent a message to that person so they could let the owner know that we had found their phone. That person called me on the phone, and it turned out to be the owner's son from L.A. and he contacted his mom and she was on her way to pick it up.

So my kids and I waited and she arrived a few minutes later and she said, "Thank you so much. You have no idea how much this means to me..."  and she handed me some cash and I tried to hand it back and she very graciously insisted that I take it for finding her phone and getting it back to her.  So I graciously accepted the money and said "Merry Christmas" and got back in my truck and as she drove away, I looked down in my hand and she had given me a $100 bill!  I was completely blown away!

Here we are struggling to make ends meet, and working hard in this very cruel economy, and this woman hands me $100!  What a blessing!  So if you post this story, and she reads this.... "Thank you so much!  You have no idea how much this means to me and my family!  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!  You have truly blessed us!

But my story of Christmas Spirit doesn't stop there... I got a call from Kmart on Friday saying I needed to make a payment on my layaway, so I was going to use the money she had handed me to help pay for my kids' Christmas presents that I had on Layaway at Kmart here in Ramona.  So I was preparing to go on Friday to make the payment, and  as I was getting ready to leave the house the phone rang again, and it was Kmart again.... "Some anonymous donor has paid off your layaway in full, can you please come by and pick up your layaway."

I just about fell over!  I have never received so many wonderful blessings like this... and all at one time!  I just had to share it with you, and hopefully everyone else in Ramona as well. Christmas Spirit is about giving and caring in any way we can. It's about helping your neighbor or even a complete stranger. It's about Loving one another.

We will definitely continue to "Pay it Forward."

And to those who chose to bless my family with these gifts, as a mom of two young kids, I can only say Thank you with all my heart... but those words just don't seem to be enough.... You have truly blessed our family and touched our hearts...you are in our prayers and we hope all of you in Ramona have an amazing Christmas and a blessed New Year!

Sincerely,
Suzy D.

Dear Suzy, Merry Christmas! I'm so glad you wrote this letter of thanks to your anonymous benefactors! It puts the joyfulness of the Christmas spirit of giving into our hearts. I too was the recipient this year of an anonymous donation to my water district account. Some kind soul donated $300 and that kept me from having a water bill for several months which helped ease my financial burden. Merry Christmas to all!
